Urgent: DHS is deporting anti-Kremlin Activist
Russian Anti-War Activist Vladislav Krasnov Faces Imminent Deportation After U.S. Appeals Board Denies Emergency Stay
Los Angeles, California – March 8, 2026 — A Russian political activist who publicly opposed President Vladimir Putin and supported the late Alexei Navalny faces imminent deportation. On March 4, 2026, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) denied an emergency stay of removal for Vladislav Krasnov, clearing the way for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to deport him to Russia at any time, despite a pending Motion to Reopen his asylum case. Advocates are urgently calling on elected officials, human rights organizations, and the public to urge U.S. authorities to halt Krasnov’s deportation while his legal process runs its course.
Krasnov’s legal team argues that he faces severe persecution and extraordinary danger if returned. Since his original asylum hearing, a European Court of Human Rights judgment has specifically named Krasnov, recognizing that Russian authorities unlawfully detained him during a political demonstration. Additionally, Krasnov has recently spoken to North American media to publicly oppose Russia’s war in Ukraine, further increasing his risk of retaliation.
“Sending a known anti-war activist back to Russia under these circumstances places him in extraordinary danger,” said Wallie Mason, Krasnov’s attorney. “Mr. Krasnov has publicly opposed the Russian government and supported democratic opposition movements. Individuals like him are routinely targeted for detention, prosecution, and worse.”
Krasnov’s legal team has filed an Application for Administrative Stay of Removal with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in New Orleans, which remains pending.
